As case managers, we must be aware of the myriad of compliance issues that must be adhered to in our daily practice. Never has this been more important to our work as RN case managers, social work case managers, case management leaders, and physician advisors, than it is now. This program will review the compliance issues most greatly impact on your practice such as the 2-midnight rule, the NOTICE Act, HINNs, and many others. Hospital accrediting agencies are now monitoring these issues when they have deemed status from Medicare, so your compliance is critical to a good survey outcome. This program will help you to identify where you may have compliance practice gaps as well as how to fix them!
In the past, there were very few rules and regulations by any payer. Case management staff had little responsibility for following rules and regulations. Yes, some compliance regulations were out there, but there was not a focus on the responsibility to have a compliant case management practice. Over time there have been both additional regulations and additional oversight by regulatory bodies to ensure compliance. With this increased oversight and the number of increased regulations (more every year), both RN case managers and social work case managers must be compliant. From the CMS Conditions of Participation to such rules as the 2-midnight rule, the MOON, levels of care and payer contracts, it’s our responsibility to maintain compliance in case management. This webinar will include the recent final rules to the Conditions of Participation for Discharge Planning, the updated requirements for the Important Message and our responsibilities with the social determinants of health.
