A Job Safety Analysis (JSA), also called a Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), is an effective safety risk identification and mitigation technique used to identify and mitigate the dangers of specific tasks in order to prevent the risk of injury to workers. JSAs/JHAs identify step-by-step how a job or work task is completed. All of the steps are listed in sequential order and safety risks are identified and mitigated. JSAs/JHAs are a power tool in the arsenal to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses.
JSAs/JHAs are an integral part of a comprehensive safety program that helps reduce workplace injuries and illnesses and are very effective in engaging workers in the safety culture process. I’ve served in leadership roles with the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) as Area Director for Mississippi and Alabama and currently serve as an Officer for the Mississippi Chapter. Additionally, I was honored to serve as Director at Large on OSHA’s VPPPA Region IV Board.
My passion lies in empowering organizations to align EHS best practices with strategic HR initiatives — creating safer, stronger workplaces that foster long-term success.
